Restored vintage train offers 37-passenger capacity with premium suites and panoramic lounges on nine-day cultural journey through Thailand’s scenic heartland.

Thailand’s scenic rail route between Bangkok and Chiang Mai is set to welcome its most luxurious passenger yet – The Blue Jasmine, a meticulously restored 1960s Japanese sleeper train. Launching November 2025, this elegant newcomer promises to elevate the classic 750km journey through Thailand’s countryside into a premium slow-travel experience.

The vintage train, operated by DTH Travel in partnership with the State Railway of Thailand, accommodates just 37 guests across three cabin classes. While classic cabins offer comfortable essentials, premium suites raise the bar with private bathrooms, butler service, and access to the train’s Panorama Lounge and premium dining car.

The Blue Jasmine’s nine-day itinerary weaves together Thailand’s cultural highlights, from Ayutthaya’s ancient ruins to ethical elephant sanctuaries in Chiang Mai. Between destinations, passengers dine on chef-prepared meals and sip craft cocktails while watching rice paddies and mountain landscapes roll by. Two nights are spent aboard the train, with remaining stays at carefully selected four-star heritage hotels.

Part of Thailand’s push toward high-value, sustainable tourism, The Blue Jasmine has scheduled departures throughout 2026. The launch marks a new chapter in Thai rail travel, offering a refined alternative to the traditional overnight services that have long connected the kingdom’s two most visited cities.
