From serene temple sanctuaries to nature-immersive locales, here are the ten most popular destinations for a peaceful reset, backed by data.

As summer approaches, a growing number of travellers are skipping bucket-list blitzes for something more elusive: mindful calm. A new global study by Blakk Smoke ranks the world’s top destinations for mindful travel in 2025, spotlighting places that help travellers switch off and slow down.

The list, built from data from over 10,000 TripAdvisor reviews worldwide (so is skewed towards the English-speaking world) uses sentiment analysis and keyword tracking to identify destinations defined by words like “peaceful,” “relaxing,” and “mindful”.

So which destination won first prize? Sedona, Arizona tops the list with a Mindfulness Score of 92 out of 100, thanks to its famed energy vortexes, red rock hikes, and abundance of spiritual retreats. Also ranked highly: Slovenia’s mirror-still Lake Bled (89/100), England’s Lake District (87/100), and the Big Sur in California (85/100) where coastal cabins offer true nature-filled escape. In Asia, Japan’s Kyoto rounds out the bottom of the top 10, praised for its Zen gardens, temples, slow rituals, and meditative pace.

Mindful travel is one of the biggest trends of 2025. Why now? Experts point to a mounting need for “JOMO” (the Joy of Missing Out), slow travel, and digital detoxes. A Worldcom Group report explains that travellers are “looking for deep rest, personal growth, and deeper connections,” by embracing silence, sleep, and unplugging from screens. Digital detox packages are becoming a luxury category in themselves: “vacations without Wi‑Fi” are now marketed as high-end escapes designed to recalibrate and reconnect. BBC coverage confirms the boom of retreats as vacations sans devices are linked to reduced stress and better mental health.

Mentions of wellness retreats, meditation centres, spas, and nature-based attractions are attracting legions prioritising mental and physical wellness when booking trips. But we think that the mindful travel trend means more than buzzwords like “cottagecore” or “digital detox”. It’s a movement tackling the realities of a stressful 24 hour news cycle, digital-based lives and very present burnout culture.

The ranking also reflects shifting post-pandemic priorities and a return to nature. Whether it’s journaling on a Scottish Highlands hilltop, yoga in white-washed Santorini or swimming off a secret Cornish cove on the British coast, the message is clear: in 2025, rest isn’t indulgent anymore. It’s essential.
