The legendary Rosa Alpina’s transformation reflects the Dolomites’ emergence as Europe’s new luxury mountain destination.

The celebrated Rosa Alpina hotel in Italy’s UNESCO-protected Dolomites is set to reopen as an Aman property this July, marking a significant transformation for the historic mountain retreat. The renovation comes as the Dolomites region experiences surging interest from luxury travelers seeking alternatives to traditional Alpine destinations like Switzerland and France.

Located in the charming village of San Cassiano, the property has undergone a comprehensive redesign while maintaining its authentic mountain character. The transformation, led by acclaimed designer Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston, includes completely remodeled guest rooms and suites, including two new 150-square-metre Aman Suites and a reconfigured Chalet Zeno offering private accommodation for up to four guests.

“Our design philosophy defines the luxurious blend of alpine charm and Eastern serenity,” says Gathy, whose vision harmonises local architectural traditions with Aman’s signature aesthetic through the use of timber, black metal accents, and natural stone.

The renewed property features expanded amenities including dedicated games rooms for all ages, three private cinemas, and a sophisticated Ski Lounge with heated boot racks. A reimagined double-height arrival space, anchored by a bespoke bar inspired by Rosa Alpina’s original piano bar, creates a dramatic welcome beneath the mountain peaks.

The hotel’s transformation into an Aman property reflects the Dolomites’ growing appeal as a year-round destination, attracting both winter sports enthusiasts and summer adventurers drawn to its dramatic landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Opening July 25, Aman Rosa Alpina is now accepting reservations for both summer and winter seasons.
