As Europe’s night train revival gains momentum, Berlin startup Nox aims to transform continental rail travel with private sleeper cabins at economy prices.
The luxury sleeper train market is booming across Europe, but a new Berlin startup is revolutionising the sector by making private compartments accessible to regular travelers. Nox Mobility‘s ambitious plan will connect European cities with modern sleeper trains at prices comparable to budget flights.
The company aims to transform overnight rail travel by eliminating shared cabins entirely. Their innovative design features private compartments with extra-long beds, panoramic windows, and ample storage space — amenities typically reserved for premium rail services.
“Sleeping while a train gets you across Europe is a great concept. But today people have to share their cabins with strangers, beds are tight, and it’s often more expensive than air travel,” says Thibault Constant, Nox co-founder and well-known rail enthusiast.
The first routes are scheduled to launch in 2027, with plans to connect 100 European cities by 2035. Single rooms will start at €79, while double rooms begin at €149, making private sleeper travel competitive with aviation for the first time.
The timing aligns with growing demand for sustainable travel alternatives and renewed interest in rail tourism. Nox’s trains will feature modern amenities including dining services, bicycle storage, and wheelchair accessibility, addressing common pain points of traditional overnight rail travel.
The company has already begun accepting memberships for its Early Bird Club, offering future travelers priority booking access and discounted rates as the network expands across major European destinations.
