New Karingani retreat will offer just 30 pavilions overlooking 150,000-hectare game reserve bordering Kruger National Park.
The world of luxury hospitality takes note as Aman, the cult brand synonymous with understated exclusive elegance and remote sanctuaries, announces its foray into Africa’s safari heartland with Aman Karingani in Mozambique.
This isn’t just another addition to the continent’s luxury lodge circuit. Positioned within the vast 150,000-hectare Karingani Game Reserve, which shares an 84-kilometre border with South Africa’s legendary Kruger National Park, the launch represents Aman’s bold statement of intent for African expansion.
The resort’s intimate scale: just 30 standalone pavilions perched on elevated terrain, epitomises Aman’s philosophy of preservation through exclusivity. Each pavilion (from one to two bedrooms) has private pools and sweeping deck views across savannahs that stretch to distant mountain ranges. The central Lodge promises Aman’s signature dining concepts alongside local flavours served under star-filled African skies, whilst the spa will provide restoration amidst some of the continent’s most spellbinding wilderness.
“Responding to the growing desire from our brand loyalists for an Aman safari retreat in Africa, the property reinforces the brand’s commitment to offering transformative experiences, connected to nature, and an ultra-luxury way of living in the world’s most exceptional destinations,” says Aman Group Chairman and CEO Vlad Doronin.
What sets Aman Karingani apart from Botswana’s established luxury camps or Kenya’s Maasai Mara lodges is its raw, untouched positioning in southern Mozambique. The destination has remained mostly under the luxury radar despite its extraordinary biodiversity in open savannahs, rolling woodlands and seasonal wetlands.
This marks Aman’s second African venture following Amanjena in Marrakech, nodding to the fact that today’s ultra-luxury travellers increasingly seek authentic wilderness trips over traditional resort destinations.
Aman Karingani is expected to open in 2026
