Luxury hotel brand opens 275-room property within Vietnam’s dramatic UNESCO World Heritage landscape.
InterContinental has opened its latest flagship property overlooking the emerald waters and limestone karsts of Ha Long Bay, marking the luxury brand’s seventh Vietnamese outpost as it approaches its 80th anniversary in 2026.
The 275-room InterContinental Halong Bay Resort blends contemporary luxury with Vietnamese design traditions across its collection of rooms, suites and villas. WATG’s architecture draws from ancient folklore and the region’s dramatic topography, whilst P49Deesign’s interiors reference traditional bamboo basket boats in the lobby and echo the bay’s turquoise waters through textured fabrics and brass accents.
“InterContinental has been hosting guests for almost 80 years in every corner of the world,” said General Manager Jesper Larsen. “We are incredibly proud to extend this ethos to the shores of Ha Long Bay, an area famed for some of Vietnam’s best beaches.”
Six dining venues showcase the resort’s culinary ambitions, led by Roku & Star Bar, a 10th-floor Japanese restaurant opening later this year with sweeping bay views and a curated sake library. Other outlets include Marina Kitchen for coastal cuisine, French-Vietnamese bistro La Baguette, and poolside lounge Del Mar, inspired by the floating village of Cửa Vạn.
The Hidden Lagoon spa partners with Margaret Dabbs London and Sodashi for treatments inspired by the bay’s tranquillity, whilst families can enjoy the Planet Trekkers club offering conical hat painting and traditional crafts.
The opening expands InterContinental’s global portfolio beyond 231 properties worldwide.
