Two restored rail cars to offer European-style opulence on iconic Amtrak routes in January, with tickets priced up to $18,000.

The United States is set to rival Europe’s legendary luxury rail journeys with the launch of Halloway’s exclusive train carriages, which will debut on two of America’s most scenic routes in January 2026.

Two meticulously restored vintage carriages – the Evelyn Henry sleeping car and the Warren R. Henry vista dome lounge – will attach to existing Amtrak services, offering passengers a private European-style experience along the Coast Starlight and California Zephyr routes.

The inaugural journey departs Los Angeles Union Station on 15 January 2026, travelling to Oakland in San Francisco Bay. Passengers will traverse the Pacific coastline and California wine country over 12 hours for $10,000 (six passengers).

A longer expedition follows on 16–17 January, crossing four states from Oakland to Denver through the Sierra Nevada, Utah’s red rock canyons, and the Rocky Mountains, priced at $18,000.

The Evelyn Henry, built in 1954, features five bedrooms including the master “Grand Canyon” suite with queen bed and en-suite bath. The 1955 Warren R. Henry boasts a panoramic glass dome, mahogany dining salon, and open viewing platform.

Onboard chefs prepare meals using premium North American ingredients, from smoked king salmon to Black Angus filet mignon, accompanied by an extensive wine selection. Passengers receive morning coffee and newspapers delivered to their suites.

Tickets are now available for both inaugural journeys.
