The sanctuary on Baja’s East Cape signals a shift for the brand as it brings its signature minimalist ethos to a rugged new corner of the Pacific coastline.

The landscape of Mexican coastal luxury is about to change. Aman has officially unveiled plans for Amanvari, the brand’s debut property in the country, scheduled to welcome guests on 1 August. Tucked away within the exclusive Costa Palmas enclave, the resort avoids the overdeveloped buzz of Cabo San Lucas in favour of a quieter, more elemental stretch of the East Cape.

The property is defined by its scale. Comprised of just 18 casitas, the resort is crafted to feel like an extension of the desert. Architects have utilized hand-applied white concrete and natural timber to mirror the stark, refined aesthetic that has become the brand’s calling card. Each space is oriented to capture the shifting light over the Sea of Cortez, providing a front-row seat to one of the most biodiverse marine environments in the world.

Aman’s move to this remote pocket of Baja is a strategic one. “Amanvari marks a continued evolution of our vision to create destinations that are intrinsically connected to their environment,” says Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO of Aman Group. “On the East Cape, where desert landscapes unfold into the Sea of Cortez, there is a rare sense of scale, stillness and natural rhythm.”

This connection to the land is evident in the programming, from the Temazcal-inspired spa rituals to the open-fire cooking at the seaside restaurant, Luma. As the group continues its expansion across the Americas, Amanvari offers a glimpse into a more secluded vision of Mexico.
